BAR TASTING
Sugar Flavor | Moderate |
Cacao Flavor | Moderate |
Acidity | Very Strong |
Roasted Nuts | Moderate |
Bitterness | Very strong |
Tasting Experience | When opening the wrapper, a strong acid and earthy flavour can be identified. The very dark bar breaks and melts easily in the mouth. The main aroma is earthy but overwhelmed by acidity. One can recognise a sugary tone, but not enough to compensate for the acidity and bitterness. The after taste is consistent with the initial one, i.e. acid and bitter. Overall, not a pleasant experience because of the acidity, most probably due to lower quality beans. An 88% cacao bar is expected to be strong in chocolate flavour, not in acidity. |
