Tasting Experience | Opening the round paper wrapper, there are two chocolate disks with a dent every 45 degrees to facilitate breaking. The aroma is definitely earthy with bitterness and a copper smell similar to the jute bags used to transport cacao beans. The piece melts nicely in the mouth making the rugged grainy texture appear. In this typical Mexican "ruggedness", there are more earthy flavours and the bitterness is accentuated. The cacao flavour is hidden by this mix of earthy and nutty aromas intertwined with the sweet flavor of sugar. The after taste is long but more bitter than chocolatey. Overall, a typical Mexican experience. Less rugged than others. This bar will appeal to the spice eating and crude taste crowds. |
