Maker's comments Les Grands Crus du Cacao (Translated from French) The Cocoa “Grands Crus” are selected by Stephane Bonnat, “Maitre Chocolatier in “Voiron - Chartreuse” (ndlr: near Grenoble, France). All the cocoa arrive in Voiron from the best plantations in the world as beans, in order to be roasted and converted into these chocolate bars that you are about to discover, compare and enjoy. (Translated from French) Assumed disappeared during about 30 years, the Maragnan cacao bean was miraculously re-discovered inside a small Brazilan “Fazenda” during the year 2012. They were only 27 cacao trees saved from the “Witch broom”, a decease that nearly eradicated cacao production in Brazil during the 80’s. Stephane Bonnat partnered with the growers in the Para region in order to cultivated this historic cacao bean. This legendary cacao brings moving and strong, but also delivers delicious floral and fruity notes. Stephane Bonnat "What pleases the palet, cannot harm the soul”

Brazilian sensations!

BAR TASTING

Sugar Flavor nonexistent
Cacao Flavor Very strong
Acidity Moderate
Roasted Nuts nonexistent
Bitterness Moderate
Fruitiness Moderate
Tasting Experience A rare mix of cacao aromas. The wrapper delivers earthy cacao aromas with fruity notes in the background. The creamy texture adds to the richness of the chocolate. While melting, a characteristic cacao acidity comes-up to enhance the chocolatey sensation. Helped by the creamy texture, the after taste is rather long but soft and includes floral notes. Overall, an excellent chocolate that will please tasters enjoying strong cacao flavors.
