The Askinosie signature craft paper emphasizes the handcrafted nature of the bar. The chocolate bar inside is protected by a biodegradable cellophane sleeve. The beans of "Criollo" variety, are coming from the North West of the Island of Madagascar in the Indian ocean. The Ambanja plantation in on the right bank of the Sambirano river, about 8 km form the ocean. The first feeling on opennig the inside sleeve is of earthiness, mixed with red fruits. While melting on the tongue, some acidity pops-up with a clearer cherry sensation and a growing and then clear caramel feeling. The after taste confirms the caramel notes while the acidity has completely disappeared and leaves your mouth with a satisfying caco aroma. Although excellent, these Criollos are less fruity than expected.
